The Village of Wanchese was named after Chief Wanchese who was the last known ruler of the Roanoke Native American tribe encountered by English colonists in the sixteenth century. Wanchese was also the very first fishing village on Roanoke Island.

Our village offers a salty, rusty and scenic atmosphere along with a truly memorable up-close and personal view of every day life on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The Landing Grill is the "heartbeat" of Wanchese Marina. Our restaurant hours are 5am to 9pm so you can start your day with a hearty homemade breakfast of biscuits, eggs, grits, french toast, omelettes, juice, coffee, milk and more before heading out for your fishing excursion. Or you can stop in for a great Wanchese lunch featuring fresh caught tuna or chicken salad, awesome burgers and a made to order pizza.

After your Outer Banks day come back and join us at our Steam Bar for some fresh local seafood while enjoying our beautiful view overlooking the water and the charter boats.
